Matzie: Nearly $500,000 secured to help Beaver County dairy rebuild

New facility will feature energy-efficient equipment, restore jobs

AMBRIDGE, July 1 – Newly secured funding of $460,718 will support Brunton Dairy’s efforts to rebuild the farm’s processing plant that was destroyed by fire in 2023, state Rep. Rob Matzie, D-Beaver, announced today.

Matzie, who is chairman of the House Majority Caucus, said the new facility will modernize operations, save energy and restore jobs.

“The fire that destroyed Brunton Dairy’s milking barn and bottling plant nearly two years ago was devastating to this beloved farm and the surrounding community, but it also brought out the best in neighbors and local businesses, who rallied to show their support,” Matzie said. “Now, rebuilding efforts will get a major boost with this new infusion of funding.

“The new facility will be equipped with efficient equipment that will streamline operations for workers and lower energy bills, allowing the farm to resume on-site milk processing with greater productivity and lower costs. Best of all, it will restore jobs for the families affected by the fire. It’s wonderful to see this business that has contributed so much to our community and our local economy building back better and stronger.”

The funding was secured through Pennsylvania’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure program – a cooperative agreement with U.S. Department of Agriculture that provides dollar-for-dollar matching grants to support food processing, distribution and aggregation from multiple farms to help meet demand for local, seasonal and fresh food.
