Matzie: Nearly $800,000 secured to boost workforce training for Beaver County job seekers

Will fund apprenticeships in data analysis, agricultural technology

AMBRIDGE, April 18 – New apprenticeship opportunities are coming to job seekers in Beaver County and the region, thanks to nearly $800,000 in new grant funding, state Rep. Rob Matzie announced today.

Matzie, who is chairman of the House Majority Caucus, said two separate grants secured through the state Department of Labor and Industry will support programs to train job seekers in data analysis and agriculture.

“Technology is constantly changing the way we do our jobs, and workforce training needs to keep pace with those developments,” Matzie said. “The new funding will support state-of-the-art apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs that train Beaver County job seekers how to work with the latest technology – both in data analysis and farming practices – so they can earn while they learn and develop the skills needed to step into good-paying jobs.”

Matzie said the funding includes:

  • $400,000 to Partner4Work to launch the Apprenticeships in Data Analytics – Western Pennsylvania initiative, which will train job seekers for high-wage, high-priority jobs that demand data analytics skills. The program will serve job seekers in Beaver County and eight other counties.

  • $399,400 to the Phase 4 Learning Center Inc. for the AgriTech program, which will train job seekers in the use of technology and data analytics that make farming practices more sustainable and profitable. The program will serve Beaver and Allegheny counties and is aligned with department guidelines to provide agricultural opportunities to people from historically marginalized communities.
