Malagari recognized as one of PA’s “Most Effective Lawmakers”

LANSDALE, Oct. 10 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, has been named the fourth most effective lawmaker in the Pennsylvania Legislature, according to a recent report from the Center for Effective Lawmaking at the University of Virginia and Vanderbilt University.

The report analyzes a range of legislative actions and measures the behaviors of effective lawmakers. The recognition reflects Malagari’s strong record of collaboration, determination, and commitment to addressing the needs of his community.

During the 2023-24 legislative session, Malagari successfully shepherded four bills through the entire legislative process, with each passing both chambers and being signed into law by Gov. Josh Shapiro. These laws include efforts to simplify licensing for local restaurants, streamline billing for heating oil deliveries, and allow renters to remain in their homes while repairs are being made. The representative also co-sponsored 18 bills, which he says reflects his commitment to collaboration and bipartisanship in the legislative process.

“I’m honored to be recognized among so many dedicated public servants,” Malagari said. “When I first ran for office, it was because I wanted to be a voice for my community in Harrisburg. Many of these laws I’ve passed began as ideas from our neighbors. I’m grateful for the opportunity to advocate for the people of the 53rd Legislative District and across the commonwealth.”

Malagari represents the 53rd District in the state House of Representatives, which includes the boroughs of Hatfield, Lansdale, Souderton, and Telford, as well as Franconia and Montgomery townships. He serves on the Professional Licensure, Liquor Control, Insurance, Consumer Protection, and Appropriations committees, where he leverages his background in health sciences and sales to craft policy solutions for all Pennsylvanians.
