May is National Nurses Month
As a nurse for 28 years, I know how hard our nurses work to ensure your health and safety in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools and more. They are there for you to help you in times of crisis and during regular checkups. Their assiduous care is the foundation of a patient’s recovery.
Thank you, nurses, for all you do.

Protecting Our Health Care Workers
I’m very proud that my bill to address workplace violence in the health care industry passed with significant bipartisan support—especially during May which is National Nurses Month and this week which is National Nurses Week! This legislation would help ensure our health care workers work in a safe environment by holding the hospitals accountable.
After years of hard work, I was proud to stand with some real heroes and champions on the passage of this bill which will provide more tools and training to prevent violent attacks in the workplace.

Fighting to Protect Kids Like Elijah
This week, I had the honor of standing with Thomas Silvera—a devoted father who turned unimaginable loss into a mission to protect children with life-threatening allergies. After losing his 3-year-old son, Elijah, Thomas has championed Elijah’s Law, which mandates allergy training, emergency planning, and access to life-saving medication in childcare settings.
As a nurse and mother, I know how critical every second is during an allergic reaction. That’s why State Rep. Kristin Marcel and I are working to bring Elijah’s Law to our state—joining NY, MD, VA, CA, and AR in making our kids’ safety a top priority. ??
It's up for a committee vote in June and then will head to the House chamber for a vote.
