Nearly $700,000 awarded to Lower Chichester Township

HARRISBURG, March 28 – Rep. Carol Kazeem, D-Delaware, today announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded $692,152 in state funding to improve pedestrian areas on roads in Lower Chichester Township, making roads safer for pedestrians and drivers. 

The funding includes:

• $442,152 to create a pedestrian-friendly environment at the intersection of Chichester Avenue and Market Street
• $250,000 to construct pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection of Chichester Avenue and Huddell Avenue. 

“Creating pedestrian-friendly areas is crucial to our community’s infrastructure, and that’s why I’ve been working hard to make Lower Chichester a walkable city. Residents of different ages and abilities can’t always drive or easily board local transit, so ensuring everyone can get around in a way that works for them is a major part of my role in serving as state representative,” Kazeem said. “I’m happy to bring over half a million in grants home to contribute to this mission and strengthen local pedestrian safety.” 

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to develop, rehabilitate and enhance modes of transportation across Pennsylvania.
