State Rep. Mary Isaacson joined representatives of Carpenters’ Company, America250PA and others to announce a yearlong commemoration of the Pennsylvania Provincial Conference. The Conference, which took place in Isaacson’s legislative district at Carpenters’ Hall June 18-25, 1776, established Pennsylvania’s independence as a commonwealth from the British Colonies and British Empire and set up the state’s first constitution. Conference delegates also authorized the mobilization of all Pennsylvania militia troops to fight in the American Revolution, which had begun a year earlier in April 1775.
