Hill-Evans: Nearly $1.4 million granted to projects in York under Crispus Attucks, Community Progress Center, Community Resource Center & more

YORK, Jan. 7 – New funding of more than $1.35 million from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will support multiple community-boosting projects across the 95th Legislative District, state Rep. Carol Hill-Evans announced today.

“These investments reflect the priorities our community has consistently identified: being strong, safe, and connected,” said Hill-Evans. “From ensuring our first responders have reliable emergency communications to expanding access to the arts, workforce training, and other essential community services, I’m thrilled to see these projects helping move people and families forward. York continues to grow as a place where individuals can build a life, raise a family, and feel confident about the future they are creating here.”

The grants were awarded by the CFA via the Statewide Local Share Account, which distributes gaming revenue to support regional projects in the public interest.

The following grants were awarded in the 95th Legislative District:

  • Spring Garden Township will receive $575,000 on behalf of York Area United Fire & Rescue to replace its emergency radios, which are nearing their expiration date for support.
  • Combined Focus Films will receive $250,000 toward the construction of the Combined Focus Films Arts Center, a state-of-the-art youth art and sports center to be located in the city of York, creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young people 14-24.
  • Community Progress Center will receive $250,000 to renovate its new location, adding accessibility features and consolidating services into one building.
  • Crispus Attucks Association will receive $30,600 to install a new server at its new History & Culture Center in the city of York, providing it with electronic storage and the ability to manage data and shared resources.
  • Shiloh Baptist Church of York will receive $48,042 to renovate its fellowship hall, used for community events and childcare services.
  • York Community Resource Center will receive $75,000 toward the purchase of equipment to operate its electrical training program that allows students to earn a certificate to enter the workforce in their field of study.
  • York County Library System will receive $140,000 toward replacing its three delivery vans used to transport books between the library’s 13 locations and local schools.

Aside from the Spring Garden Township project, the York County Economic Alliance assisted each of the above organizations in applying for their grants.
