Hill-Evans welcomes nearly $600,000 for York business development

YORK, April 8 – Two York community development organizations will receive a total of $590,300 in state funding through the Main Street Matters program for their local improvement projects, state Rep. Carol Hill-Evans announced today.

  • York County Industrial Development Authority will receive a $504,050 grant to complete Phase 2 of the Zion Church Stabilization project to turn the church into an adaptive re-use public gathering and event venue for the neighboring Yorktowne Hotel.
  • Y Community Development Corp. will receive a $86,250 grant to install new streetlights around York, as part of YCDC’s ongoing safety initiatives that can be found throughout the city and have been instrumental in cracking down on crime and improving neighborhood walkability.

“Chairing the House State Government Committee has given me great insight into how much programs like Main Street Matters benefit our communities,” Hill-Evans said. “It’s not just about fixing buildings or adding lights—it’s about making sure people feel safe, proud, and connected to where they live. These are the kinds of projects that really bring neighborhoods together and make a difference in people’s everyday lives.”

The funding is part of 81 investments totaling $17 million in Main Street Matters program funding that was announced April 7 by the administration of Gov. Josh Shapiro.
