Haddock brings home $2.1 million for transportation projects

HARRISBURG, March 26 – State Rep. Jim Haddock is pleased to announce more than $2.1 million today was awarded for five projects in the communities he represents in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.
“It is always a great day when grant dollars are returned to our area and this money will go a long way toward completing important transportation improvements,” said Haddock, D-Luzerne/Lackawanna. “I want to thank Sen. Marty Flynn and my leadership team for supporting these funding requests through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.”
Pittston Township was awarded $628,170 for roadway improvements on Armstrong Road within the CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park.
Jenkins Township will use a $449,085 grant to repave sections of Centerpoint Boulevard in the CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park.
Moosic was awarded $437,498 for streetscape improvements located on Winfield and Birney avenues in the borough.
Transportation improvements around Pittston Area High School will be possible thanks to $350,000 that was awarded to Pittston City.
Glenburn Township will use $239,003 to reconstruct Pine Tree Drive in Dalton.
Haddock said the grants were provided by the CFA’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to residents across Pennsylvania. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the state’s economic stimulus packages.
