The Budget: Waiting on the Senate Republicans to Take Action
It’s July 18, and Pennsylvania’s budget was due on June 30.
This week, House Democrats passed a $49.97 billion spending plan that reflects real compromise. We cut $1 billion from the Governor’s proposal, but we still prioritized public schools, health care, and basic services. We are doing our job, and the Senate Republicans needs to do theirs.
Without action, school districts and nonprofits will face real hardship by the end of the month. We can’t afford that.
The House is governing. We’re compromising. We’re moving legislation forward. It’s time for the Senate to come back to the table, finish the job, and deliver a responsible budget for Pennsylvania.
