HARRISBURG, April 23 – Pennsylvania veterans would receive information at work on benefits and services they have earned in service under legislation sponsored by state Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, that passed the PA House today.
“It remains a priority for me to ensure our veterans receive the benefits and services they have so honorably earned in service to our country,” Deasy said. “A good way to be sure that happens is to provide it to them at their place of employment. It is an easy ask of employers to simply post a pre-made poster or letter-sized document that is provided to them by the state in a conspicuous place so vets can easily access it.”
Deasy added that some of the information that would be available would include vet programs on health care, mental health treatment, tax benefits, and eligibility for benefits under the state and federal government, just to name a few.
The legislation (H.B. 799) would require employers with more than 50 full-time employees to display a poster that would be created by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and made available by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The poster would include:
