Rep. Dan Deasy April 7, 2025 | 4:23 PM
HARRISBURG, April 7 – State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, announced today that the House passed his legislation that would provide more flexibility for off-site catering at end-of-life memorial events.
“Following the loss of a loved one, many families face emotional and logistical challenges with arranging food and drink at a memorial, oftentimes on short notice,” said Deasy, who serves as the majority chair of the House Liquor Control Committee. “Current law requires businesses to give seven days’ notice to the Liquor Control Board for off-premises catering permits, a timeline that simply doesn’t work for many of these memorial events.”
House Bill 467 would reduce that notice requirement from seven days to 24 hours for memorial services, allowing eligible licensees to provide off-site catering on shorter notice.
The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.
