Curry resolution naming April Sikh Heritage Month adopted by PA House
HARRISBURG, May 8 – On Tuesday, H.R.123, introduced by state Rep. Gina Curry, D-Delaware, was adopted by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives 195-8.
House Resolution 123 names April 2025 as Sikh Heritage Month in Pennsylvania. Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world, and there are over half a million Sikhs living in the U.S.
“Sikhs have been contributing to America’s communities and economy for over 100 years,” Curry said. “There are strong Sikh communities in Upper Darby, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and throughout our Commonwealth. This resolution honors them, their contributions to our communities, and their heritage.”
April was chosen because one of the most sacred days in the Sikh calendar, Vaisakhi, the beginning of the Sikh new year, is celebrated on April 14.
