Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,
|
|
Each summer, my team runs a Youth Legislative Council where young people learn about the legislature, build advocacy skills, and explore community leadership. This year it runs June 18–July 23.
Participation is free and we still have space in the 2026 program! Registration will be open through June 18 – register here. Orientation will take place on Thursday, June 18 at 5 p.m.
If you have any questions about what’s involved, who can participate, or what to expect, please give us a call at 610-259-7016. We’re here to help!
I look forward to meeting this year’s cohort of bright young minds!

Moving toward an Ebony Alert System
|
Black children made up about 40% of missing children reports in the U.S. in 2023, despite being 14% of the population. Black women and girls accounted for about 18% of missing persons cases while representing roughly 7% of the population.
Missing children of color are disproportionately classified as runaways, preventing AMBER Alerts from being issued and reducing the chances that they’re found.
I’m proud to share that the PA House Children & Youth Committee approved my bill to create the Ebony Alert System, a dedicated system to help locate missing Black and Brown youth. It now moves to the full House for consideration.

Standing with the American Cancer Society
|
This week I joined the American Cancer Society to highlight the importance of early cancer screenings, which help detect cancer sooner when it is more treatable. This year, I’ve worked to ensure breast cancer screenings are fully covered by insurance in Pennsylvania, and I plan to continue advancing legislation that improves health outcomes for residents.
You can hear my remarks from the news conference below.

Advocating for Small Business Development
|
This week I joined advocates to discuss investing in small businesses. They drive local economic growth and community revitalization. I will continue working to secure the support and resources they need to thrive.

I had to take advantage of this photo-op with life-size candies when the Hershey Corporation visited the Capitol on Tuesday! What a sweet moment!

PA House Fellowship Now Accepting Applications!
|
Know a college student interested in state government? Let them know the PA House Legislative Fellowship Program is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2026 semester.
The Fellowship Program is based in the State Capitol in Harrisburg. Fellows are placed in House committees or leadership offices, are compensated (and sometimes earn college credit), and gain hands-on experience drafting and presenting legislation, meeting public officials, and touring historic state sites.
Go to pahousefellowship.us for more information and directions on how to apply.

Thank you for being community heroes!
|
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who donated blood yesterday at our American Red Cross blood drive! Each donation saves more than one life!
Thank you to the American Red Cross and to State Senator Tim Kearney and his team for working with us to bring this event to East Lansdowne.

Last weekend, we enjoyed a great day at Laura’s Fun Walk hosted by Laura’s Children’s Foundation, focused on fitness, mental health, and overall wellness. It was a successful and fun event for all.
