E-Blast: Find our missing youth

PA Representative Gina Curry banner image

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

We've made it through the first week of 2026! I know there's been a lot of overwhelming news this week, so please be sure to take care of yourself, check in on your friends and neighbors, and make space for joy and hope even when things feel dark. My office is here for you when you need us; please know you can reach out for assistance by coming by 1500 Garrett Road, Suite 2G, or calling (610) 259-7016 to speak to a team member.

If you haven’t already, it’s time to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program! LIHEAP provides qualifying residents cash grants to help pay your home heating bill in the cold winter months – ranging from $200 to $1,000 based on your household income.

Programs like LIHEAP can help you offset the rising costs of energy that we’re seeing statewide. You can apply through April 10.

For more information and to apply online, click here. You can also contact my office if you need help applying for LIHEAP or need help with any utility-related issues.

Stay warm!

Gina H. Curry

State Representative

164th Legislative District

Join me TODAY in Philadelphia from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
to combat human trafficking

Black and Brown children and women are disproportionately the victims of human trafficking crimes like forced labor and sexual exploitation. In 2022 alone, 141,000 Black youth were reported missing, accounting for over 35% of all missing people that year.

Join me TODAY at the Rotunda in Philadelphia – 4014 Walnut Street – to learn more about this issue.

You’ll hear from me and fellow Rep. Carol Kazeem about my legislation House Bill 434. HB 434 would establish an Ebony Alert System in Pennsylvania, like our existing Amber Alert System for missing children, but dedicated to finding missing Black and Brown youth. An Ebony Alert System has already been established in California and proven effective – and it’s time we add this to our safeguards here in Pennsylvania.

Apply for a Summer Legislative Fellowship!

Applications for the Summer 2026 Pennsylvania House of Representatives Legislative Fellowship Program are now being accepted.

House Fellows work with legislative committees or in House Leadership offices to gain experience drafting and presenting their own legislation, attending meet-and-greets with public officials and staff, and more! It’s a great introduction to the everyday workings of the legislature for undergraduate, graduate, and law school students interested in a career in state government.

Applications for the summer semester are due on Monday, March 2. The 2026 program runs from Thursday, June 4 through Thursday, August 6. All fellowships are based in Harrisburg.

Qualified applicants will be:

  1. College undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or law school students;
  2. Enrolled in a Pennsylvania college/university, or a Pennsylvania resident enrolled in an out-of-state institution; and
  3. Pursuing any major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

If you know of any college students who would benefit from the Fellowship Program, please invite them to visit the website at: www.pahousefellowship.us. Applications can be submitted via email to: pahousefellowship@pabmc.net.
