Last Thursday and Friday I got to be part of bringing legislators and community leaders from all over Pennsylvania together at the Born to Thrive Maternal and Infant Health Summit to talk about the rising rates of maternal and infant mortality in our communities. Many of you already know this issue is near and dear to me and that I always fight for legislation that could improve outcomes for moms and babies. I am so proud of how this event turned out and grateful to every person who was able to come and share their knowledge and support.

I’m a member of the House Education Committee, and this week we held a public hearing in Philadelphia to hear from area experts about school facility maintenance and modernization. We had great conversations about the state of many of our schools and what kinds of upgrades buildings may need in the future.

A great big THANK YOU to Upper Darby for yet another fantastic International Festival last weekend! It really captured the vibrancy of our community and made me feel hopeful for our future in what can feel like very uncertain times. We had a blast. I am lucky to live in a township that people from dozens of cultures call home.

This week we participated in the March of Dimes Philly Community Baby Shower at Union Yards in Chester. Expecting parents and parents of children under age 2 were able to access important resources to help on their parenting journey and enjoy games and prizes, too.

I also had the chance to stop by East Lansdowne Borough’s Family Fun Day last weekend, where so many families were out enjoying the food and festivities. I love to see our residents coming together as neighbors and friends at community events like these!
