Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,
This week I was back in Harrisburg, and things are really ramping up as we head toward budget season. I am proud to have advocated for Delaware County’s small businesses and for those with sickle cell disease, celebrated some of my legislation moving forward, and welcomed honored guests to the PA House.
Welcome, Delta Sigma Theta!
On Monday I had the pleasure of welcoming the sisters of Delta Sigma Theta alongside my House peers, state Reps. La’Tasha Mayes, Morgan Cephas and Lindsay Powell. Thank you for your advocacy, support, and action!

CDFI Funding Keeps Our Small Businesses Going
On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to advocate for funds for small businesses with the PA CDFI Network, a statewide collective of community development financial institutions that provide loans to businesses – often small businesses in low-income neighborhoods. I believe that building our community’s economy through programs like these strengthens us, and I know the importance of these loans in helping businesses thrive.

Continuing the Work for Black Maternal Health
Tuesday afternoon, I served on a panel discussing Black maternal health for AKA Day at the Capitol. Pennsylvania has a crisis of maternity care deserts, and the panel focused on how the legislature will address these issues moving forward. We shared information on our upcoming Momnibus legislation that will address this critical need.

More Support for People with Sickle Cell Disease
On Wednesday, I joined state Rep. Arvind Venkat to speak about the need for more financial support for sickle cell care and research. This disease has had a direct impact on my family, as it has families of so many others, and I am eager to see more funds allocated to understanding and eliminating it. I was proud to stand with advocates on Sickle Cell Advocacy Day to discuss the need for better pediatric screening, greater education and legislative action to protect future generations.
I’m honored to share with you that a resolution I introduced, H.R. 123, was adopted by the House this week. House Resolution 123 recognizes April 2025 as Sikh Heritage Month. Sikhism is the fifth-largest religion in the world, and there are over half a million Sikhs living in the U.S.—including strong communities in Upper Darby and Philadelphia.

Stocking Trout at Darby Creek
Last week, my staffer Carl and I got to join volunteers and the PA Fish and Boat Commission to stock trout in Darby Creek. They’re ready for you, so head outside to enjoy the spring weather creekside!
Our Future Emergency Responders
This past weekend I joined the Upper Darby Police Department for their annual Public Safety Summit for Girls, where young women in our community can interact with women in public service and learn about emergency response. The event is a great way to learn more about future careers in policing, firefighting, and EMS services!
A Successful Women’s Health Fair
Lansdowne Borough and I also hosted our Uplift Women’s Health Fair this weekend, offering health screenings, educational workshops, and resources on women’s holistic health and wellness.
Supporting the Youth of Delaware County
Our Youth Job Fair had an amazing turnout! Young people from across the 164th Legislative District came to explore job and career opportunities. I’m so proud to have seen so many of our youth there and engaged! Thank you, Lansdowne Y for the use of your facilities, and to all our participating employers and youth programs for helping us offer this event.
My district office staffers Cintia Isles and Nathaniel Randall attended the Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation’s annual Memorial Service for fallen officers this week, held at Rose Tree Park. Lt. Stevens of Upper Darby Police Department (pictured) served as a flag bearer. Each fallen officer had a cap and rose laid on their memorial by a fellow officer. Please take a moment to honor their loss.
