Rep. Morgan B. Cephas August 6, 2025 | 10:42 AM
HARRISBURG, Aug. 6 – Following this morning’s announcement by SEPTA of their deadline to avoid initial service cuts in the absence of state funding, Philadelphia state Rep. Morgan Cephas, chairwoman of the Philadelphia House Delegation, issued the following statement:
“Our deadline to avoid service cuts is now as real as ever with SEPTA drawing their line on the tracks today. We have eight days, but we’re hopeful that the actions of the House Transportation Committee this afternoon will build the necessary consensus to overcome this impasse and keep our city working and economy moving.”
SEPTA stated their deadline of Aug. 14 for funding to be secured ensures that staffing and equipment are ready for the previously announced reduced schedules to begin on Sunday, Aug. 24 – one day before students return to classes in the School District of Philadelphia.
The House Transportation Committee is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 6) for a voting meeting, which can be viewed below.
