Annual street fair celebrates community and culture in West Philly on Juneteenth

PHILADELPHIA, June 20 - Over 6,000 attendees came out to celebrate five years of flavor, community and joy along the Upper Lancaster Avenue Business Corridor and 63rd Street Business District at the Overbrook Night Market.

Despite the early evening downpour, the celebration carried on. The event featured more than 35 food vendors from across the region—including both new and returning favorites.

Co-hosted by State Rep. Morgan Cephas and Overbrook West Neighbors, the event was powered by more than 35 dedicated volunteers including the city’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, numerous community partners, and an incredible slate of sponsors who helped make the night possible.

“This event is always a highlight of the summer kickoff in West Philly,” said Cephas, D-Phila. “It’s about celebrating our community, propelling economic development, and creating a space for joy—and this year was truly a celebration where we also got to honor the Juneteenth holiday. Even with the rain, West Philly showed up and showed out. That’s what our community looks like.”

The evening included live performances, three DJ zones, a Family Zone with games and activities for children provided by Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, and a reserved space for seniors known as The Porch. Guests also cooled off at the on-site Philly PHLASH Bus, which served as a pop-up cooling station throughout the event.

A special highlight of the evening was the appearance of Miss Juneteenth Pennsylvania, a proud West Philadelphia native and current student at SLA Beeber, who helped anchor the event’s connection to Juneteenth and its legacy of Black freedom and excellence.

The Overbrook Night Market team extended its deep gratitude to all participating vendors, volunteers, performers, neighbors, and this year’s sponsors, including:
