Rep. Frank Burns October 22, 2014
HARRISBURG, Oct. 22 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, said that the Blacklick Valley Municipal Authority has been awarded a $1.99 million low-interest loan to make improvements to its water system.
The loan, approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, will enable the municipal authority to construct 10,687 feet of water line and water mixing systems in the Pindleton and Vintondale storage tanks, as well as replace 856 water meters.
"Blacklick Valley customers along state Route 271 and Cardiff Road have had inadequate water pressure and fire flow because the old lines are breaking. Because of these breaks, some customers have been without water for more than a day," Burns said. "This funding will help resolve that problem."
The loan is for 292 months and will carry a 1 percent interest rate for the life of the loan.
An independent agency, Pennvest funds sewer, stormwater and drinking water projects throughout the state. These projects contribute to improving Pennsylvania's environment and the health of residents, as well as provide opportunities for economic growth and jobs for Pennsylvania workers.
