Rep. Frank Burns March 11, 2014
HARRISBURG, March 11 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, announced that nearly $24,000 has been awarded to entities in Cambria County from the state.
Cambria Township received a $20,462 Recycling Performance Grant for its 4,040 tons of materials it recycled in 2011. Burns said this funding is provided as incentive for municipalities to increase the amount of recycling and is in addition to the funds the Department of Environmental Protection allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
Cambria County received a $3,344 Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant to reimburse the county for half of the costs associated with developing and operating a household hazardous waste event between January and June 2013.
Both grant programs are maintained by DEP.
