Rep. Frank Burns November 1, 2013
HARRISBURG, Nov. 1 – State Reps. Frank Burns and Gary Haluska announced they are holding a food drive to benefit local food pantries.
"For the third year in a row, we are partnering with the Dorothy Day Project at St. Francis University to hold this holiday food drive," Burns said. "Last year, local residents and businesses donated 20 boxes of non-perishable food items. This year, we've expanded our collection locations so that more people can participate."
The legislators said food banks often run low during the holiday season when demand is high.
"Many families without food security can become overstressed during the holidays because of the extra financial burdens the holidays can bring," Haluska said. "Our goal with this drive is to ease some of that burden locally."
Collection boxes have been set up throughout the 72nd and 73rd Districts. Donations of non-perishable food items may be dropped off during regular business hours through Nov. 30 at:
