Burns secures $115K in grants for two local fire companies
Funds go to East Taylor Township and East Conemaugh Borough

JOHNSTOWN, Oct. 1 — As part of his career-long commitment to first responders in Cambria County, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, has obtained two new state grants totaling $115,000 for local fire companies.
The grants were awarded to:
- East Taylor Township Fire Department: $60,000 for fire station renovations
- Conemaugh Independence Volunteer Fire Company: $55,000 for the purchase of new hoses
“For the first responders in Cambria County, I have their back in Harrisburg,” Burns said. “I understand they do dangerous work to protect us while struggling to raise money. These state grants are vital to their operations, and I’m proud to bring these dollars home to help pay for much-needed station renovations in East Taylor and new hoses in East Conemaugh Borough.”

With these grants, Burns has now secured a total of more than $427 million in state grants for the 72nd Legislative District since taking office.
The new grants awarded to the local fire companies come from programs in the state Department of Community & Economic Development.
