‘Frank does a lot for our area. We appreciate him.’

EBENSBURG, June 27 – While visiting his bank one day, members of the East Conemaugh Borough road crew were driving by and stopped to explain to state Rep. Frank Burns their desperate need for a new maintenance vehicle.
“I told them I would help,” said Burns, D-Cambria.
The result of his efforts was a $107,805 state grant that not only allowed the borough to purchase a new Dodge Ram truck – it also funded a new police cruiser that borough secretary Virginia Stephens said was the second new police car acquired last fall with Burns’ help.
The first police car was purchased with a $47,610 Burns-generated grant, pushing his East Conemaugh new vehicle grant delivery total to $155,415.

“Frank does a lot for our area. We appreciate him,” Stephens said. “This gives us two brand new police cruisers. Our other cruisers were pretty old, with lots of miles.
“The new maintenance truck replaced an old truck that was not very well. We were putting a lot of money into it. We’re going to use the new one for a bit of everything. In the summer it will be hauling lawn mowers for cutting grass, and in the winter it’s a vehicle we can plow our alleys with.”
Stephens said the three new vehicles are welcomed fleet additions that will be used by the borough’s five maintenance workers and six police officers.
