HARRISBURG, May 15 – State Rep. Frank Burns announced that the Johnstown Senior Center has been awarded $52,829 by the Department of Aging through a competitive grant program.
The center will use the funding for nutrition services.
“These funds will enhance the quality of life for area seniors and I’m happy to do my part to bring this funding home,” Burns said.
This award was one of 45 competitive grant awards for Senior Community Centers throughout 26 counties within the commonwealth. The grant funding is appropriated by the General Assembly with proceeds from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
Nine other senior centers in Cambria County each received $2,551 in non-competitive grants: Ebensburg Senior Center, Jackson Township Senior Center, Nanty Glo Community Center, Cresson Senior Center, East Hills Senior Center, Forest Hills Senior Center, Northern Cambria Senior Center, Patton Senior Center and Portage Senior Center.
