Burns collecting nonperishable food, new toys for those less fortunate

EBENSBURG, Nov. 8 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, will hold two drives throughout November in his offices to help the community.

His offices in Johnstown and Ebensburg will be collection points for nonperishable food and Toys for Tots.

“As the cost of living continues to rise, more families are financially struggling. I want to do what I can to help those in our community,” Burns said. “No one can help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”

Burns said that while all unexpired, non-perishable items are welcome, donations of boxed goods such as cereal or instant potatoes, pudding, and canned vegetables such as corn, green beans and sweet potatoes, are of particular need. Toys for Tots organizers are requiring new, unwrapped toys.

Food donations and new toys may be dropped off at one of Burns’ offices between now and Nov. 30:

  • 535 Fairfield Ave., Johnstown, 15906.
  • 123 W. High St., Ebensburg, 15931.

All items will be donated to local food pantries and the Toys for Tots program.
