Rep. Frank Burns June 17, 2020 | 3:29 PM
EBENSBURG, June 17 – Calling it a welcome development as governments struggle with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, today announced Cambria County will be receiving $111,276 in Marcellus Shale impact fees from 2019.
“It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on our communities and county government’s financial picture, so this news is especially welcome during these tough times,” Burns said. “These impact fees are also just another way that the Marcellus Shale industry is having a positive impact on our state, even during these tough times. I’ve supported the industry since day one, and I’ll continue to fight against proposals and policies that would harm this job creating industry, while doing my best to try to expand opportunities for Cambria County.”
Burns has been an outspoken supporter of job creation through petrochemical industry expansion, which he believes could bring about the economic revitalization of western Pennsylvania. He has aggressively pursued businesses and industries, pitching them on expanding into Cambria County, including the county’s Keystone Opportunity Zone.
Information about the 2019 Impact Fee program, which is administered by the Public Utility Commission, is available on the PUC’s Act 13 website.
