Burns: $96,000 to support law enforcement in Cambria County
Founder of ‘Blue Lives Matter Caucus’ remains committed to local responders

HARRISBURG, June 10 – Today state Rep. Frank Burns showed his commitment to local law enforcement by proudly announcing Cambria County has been selected to receive almost $100,000 in federal funding to assist police and other agencies during the COVID-19 crisis.
“As the founder of the Blue Lives Matter Caucus in Harrisburg, I’m always looking for ways that we can support our local law enforcement officers and help them do their jobs as safely as possible,” Burns said. “This federal grant is another deposit against the huge debt that we owe all of them for every day they put on their uniforms to protect and serve our communities.”
Burns said the federal Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding – administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency – will fund critical protections for law enforcement personnel and the communities they serve.
Of the $850 million in federal funding designated for state and local law enforcement assistance nationwide, PCCD was eligible to apply for a state share of approximately $17.6 million. Of that amount, PCCD said $8 million in CESF dollars is being made available now, based on an “unprecedented need to immediately address” COVID-19 prevention, preparedness and response.
The funding is for 24-month projects and will be distributed using a formula based on each county’s population size, with a base allocation amount of $40,000. Cambria County’s share is $95,961.
