Charles Moyer named 2018 recipient of Charlie Vizzini Volunteer Award

EBENSBURG, Oct. 5 – On Friday Rep. Frank Burns said he was proud to present Charles Moyer of Ebensburg with the 2018 Charlie Vizzini Volunteer Award.

Burns said Moyer is a dedicated volunteer and community member who goes above and beyond to support Ebensburg and make the region a better place to live.

“I am proud to recognize Charlie for his good work in the area,” Burns said. “People like Charlie are the glue that bind our communities together – people who are always willing to step up and lend a hand to their neighbors or help out in their towns – not because they need to, but because it’s the right thing to do.”

Among his accomplishments, Moyer is a member of the Ebensburg Center Board of Trustees; is part of the Kiski Stream Team (a volunteer group that monitors water quality); has served 12 years with the United Way as a board member and volunteer; served 12 years on the Johnstown Airport Authority board and six years with the American Red Cross; has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 30 years; and has served as a lector at Holy Name Catholic Church for the past three years.

He has also been a member of the Dauntless Volunteer Fire Co. for 55 years.

The annual Charlie Vizzini Volunteer Award is named in honor of Charlie Vizzini, who volunteered more than 8,000 hours in Burns’ legislative office – fielding more than 1,000 constituent service matters and saving taxpayers more than $100,000.
