WILMERDING, Feb. 24 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek and state Sen. Nick Pisciottano, both D-Allegheny, announced today that Wilmerding Borough has been awarded $400,000 through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to support critical street reconstruction projects.
The funding will be used to reconstruct Card Avenue, Middle Avenue, and Patton Street, improving infrastructure and enhancing transportation safety in the borough.
"Investing in our local roads is essential for the safety and mobility of our residents," Markosek said. "This funding will allow Wilmerding Borough to make much-needed improvements to these streets, ensuring safer and smoother travel for the community. I’m proud to support this project and will continue advocating for infrastructure improvements throughout our district."
“By investing in transportation, we are not just improving roads and bridges, we are investing in the future of our communities,” Pisciottano said. “I will continue to work with state and local officials to secure more resources to support these types of essential projects.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
