Markosek applauds $252,000 in state grants for local fire and EMS companies

MONROEVILLE, Feb. 12 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, announced today more than $252,000 in grants awarded through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner to support local fire and emergency medical services in the 25th Legislative District.

"With so many of our emergency services relying on volunteers, these grants are a vital investment in public safety," Markosek said. "This funding will help our local departments with everything from equipment upgrades to training costs, ensuring they can continue providing the outstanding emergency response our residents count on."

The following organizations were awarded grants:

  • United Volunteer Fire and Rescue - $13,524.70.
  • Monroeville EMS Inc. - $15,000.
  • Monroeville Fire Co. Number 6 - $13,524.70.
  • Monroeville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 5 - $16,322.02.
  • Monroeville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 4 - $16,322.02.
  • Monroeville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3 - $12,448.81.
  • Monroeville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 - $13,821.
  • Fire Department of North Versailles EMS - $10,000.
  • Fire Department of North Versailles - $13,524.70.
  • Pitcairn Fire Co. No. 1 - $13,955.06
  • Plum Emergency Medical Service Inc. -$15,000
  • Renton Volunteer Fire Department - $12,448.81
  • Unity Volunteer Fire Department. - $15,246.13
  • Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department. - $16,322.02
  • West Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Department - $12,000.
  • Eastern Area Prehospital Service - $15,000.
  • Turtle Creek Volunteer Fire Department No.1 - $13,739.88.
  • Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Department - $14,385.41.

Administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program provides funding for volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads across Pennsylvania. Grants can be used for facility upgrades, equipment, debt reduction, training and certification.
